Weekend Adventures

Herro herro! For the past 2 months I have been exploring Jeju, Seoul, and Busan on the weekends. Below I have posted several pictures from my adventures!

At the Jeju Fire Festival! This is one of the largest festivals in Korea. Basically, there are hundreds of vendors, lots of food, and well lots of fire. Lighting a small mountain on fire is suppose to mark the beginning of spring. I signed up with a trip organizer and was able to get a torch! Torches are quite limited so I was lucky! I'm not too sure whether to consider  myself too lucky though...the giant ball at the top of the torch is soaked in gasoline or lighter fluid. Needless to say, when you hold the torch is just runs down and gets all over your arm. Safe right? In Korea, absolutely! There was very little organization when it came to 500 people lighting their tortches. Combine this with crazy adjummas, children, wind, and rain and you have an absolute mess. Once lit, we got in line to walk to the edge of the mountain where we were instructed to throw our torches a pretty good distance to light a huge haystack on fire. By the time we got to the edge of the mountain the fire was already spreading and the wind was crazy! We basically threw our  torches a short distance and ran away! haha! It was a neat festival though!
My friend Jess from Busan came to visit Jeju for her first time! I welcomed her at the airport with a sign and if you look closely a bottle of soju! haha! She took this picture of me taking a video of her coming through the gates! haha!

Danger!!

The following pictures were taken at the Jeju Mini Park. Basically it is the Korean attempt to replicate many significant structures around the world.

Notice the flag of Hong Kong... ha ha ha

The next group of pictures were taken in Busan.
The UN Memorial Cemetary. Really nice park! Check out those trees too!

Pyoseon Beach in Jeju!

I'll just leave this picture here.

Ilchul Land! Nice park with a neat cave!

Kim and I!

At the end of the cave (or rather where tourists can walk) I suppose this is the scary dragon living in the cave! haha
Kim and I attended the Canola Flower Festival!

Bungee Jumping just outside of Seoul!
Preparing for my jump! In case you are wondering...yes, I nearly shat my pants! I was told to just look straight, stand on the edge, and jump far out. Then you look down, have that feeling of free falling, and wonder when you will feel the bungee pull! I was lifted into that little raft in the video and taken to shore. Fun times!

The flowers were lovely! Kim and I crawled in to take some pictures! If you concentrate your eyes on one small area you could see so many bees! Also, if you listen carefully you can hear a roar of buzzing!

We received certificates for finishing the trail!

Amy and I went on a hike on Sarabong. The cherry blossoms are starting to bloom!
